Privacy Policy

This policy explains how HonestDate.Club handles information used to provide a safer dating service.

Information we handle

We handle account and profile details, verification results, profile photos, approximate and exact location, mobile number, communications, safety reports and technical service data. Exact location and mobile numbers are kept private from other members.

Profile-photo analysis

When you upload a profile photo, we send a processed copy securely from our server through Vercel AI Gateway to an OpenAI vision model. The model checks compliance with our photo rules, such as whether you are visible, whether other faces remain unblurred, and whether sunglasses, prohibited filters, obscured faces or explicit content appear.

Vercel states that it does not store or train on content passing through AI Gateway. OpenAI states that API data is not used for model training by default, but content may be retained in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days unless enhanced retention controls apply. A photo flagged as potentially unlawful child sexual abuse material may be retained for safety review as required by the provider’s policies. We retain the moderation result with your profile and retain the uploaded profile photo while needed to operate your account.

Before editing, we calculate SHA-256 and a conservative perceptual hash from the original file. We compare these only with that member’s current photos to reject exact or clearly near-identical copies. Deleted photo records are removed from this comparison, so a deleted photo may be uploaded again. The hashes are not exposed to members or used to compare different members.

Live-face verification

We capture three camera images while you complete an on-screen movement challenge and securely compare them with sufficiently detailed private versions of up to three approved profile photos. Automated analysis returns only categorical liveness and same-person consistency evidence. We do not store face embeddings or templates, identify you elsewhere, or infer demographic or other sensitive characteristics. Ambiguous or inconsistent results are routed to a restricted administrator for review.

Captures are private and are never displayed to members. We record the result category, comparison photo identifiers, provider/version, timestamp and limited review notes so a decision can be audited. Raw captures are retained only while reasonably needed for verification, appeals, fraud prevention and legal obligations; verified captures are scheduled for shorter retention than uncertain or failed checks. Account deletion removes live verification captures and database records, except limited audit information that must lawfully be retained.

Why we use information

We use information to create and secure accounts, verify members, operate matching and messaging, calculate approximate compatibility and Meet Halfway suggestions, administer subscriptions and the Match Guarantee, moderate content, prevent fraud and abuse, comply with law and improve service reliability. We collect limited product events to understand whether members are successfully matching and conversing; we do not use them to create manipulative engagement profiles.

Meet Halfway and location

Exact co-ordinates are stored separately from public profile information. Our server may send co-ordinates to Google Maps Platform to derive a suburb and calculate road distance and estimated driving time; other members receive those results but never the co-ordinates or a map pin. For Meet Halfway, our server calculates an approximate midpoint and may send that midpoint—not either member’s home location—to Google Places to find suitable public venues. Venue proposals are retained with the match.

Payments and communications

Stripe processes payment details and returns customer, subscription, invoice and payment-status references; HonestDate.Club does not store full card details. Telnyx processes mobile numbers and verification messages. Postmark processes transactional email addresses and delivery information. Supabase stores application data and authentication records, and Vercel hosts the application.

Your choices

You may replace photos, request review of moderation, correct profile information, pause discovery, manage notification preferences, download a copy of your data, cancel membership or request account deletion from account settings. Deletion removes public visibility immediately. Limited records may be retained for payment reconciliation, fraud prevention, abuse investigations, legal claims and safety obligations.

Security and international processing

We use access controls, private storage and encrypted network connections. No system is completely secure. Our providers may process information in countries other than yours, subject to their applicable safeguards.
